During the last 10 weeks, many game students at "Högskolan på Gotland" joined in groups to make games for the "Gotland Game Award". People from international game companies arrive at Gotland to test and judge our projects. And there were 12 different award cathegories.
Since I'm too lazy to add details, I'll just add link with the list of the awards.

My group was called Black Lotus Entertainment wich included 4 people (inlcuding me), and I was the designer for 4 level areas, character bios and some quests. We made a module game of Neverwinter Nights 2 called The Monks of Sangrael, which was based on the conflict between the Tibetans and the Chinese. You're playing as a monk called Nima, and you must completed many quests using non-violence method.
Unfortunately, the toolset that came with the game is buggy as hell. For instance, it crashes often, and it wouldn't let us use the custom contents (except music). So we used what the toolset can offer and manipulate the objects, giving them more asian style.
But we did at least finished our project (even though there are still some bugs and horrible grammars, because of lack of time) and submitted it.
Our goal was to win the Red Cross Award.
After letting some of the judges and many visitors testing our game, it was time for the judges to anounce the winners in the different cathegories.
And guess what? At the Red Cross Award part, it was extremely hard for them to choose between my group and our competitor with their game, Insats Afrika. So they decided to give the prize to both (despite the flaws in our game). Yay!

And the prize? A trip to New York and a free visit to U.N.
We haven't been noticed when will travel, but it's somewhere either in autumn or spring.
Fucking awesome! I've never been so happy in my entire life.
When I called my mom about this in my cellphone, I started crying and laughing at the same time, because I'm happy.
And all my classmates told me that I definatly deserve it.
And since the currency of the US dollar is pretty low. Hohohoho.....

And if we continue with Monks of Sangrael, we'll probably remake it using a 2D engine (like Torque, Game Maker or Multimedia Fusion 2), because Neverwinter Nights 2's toolset is HORRIBLE and I will never touch it again in my life.
Anyway, cheers to all.
New York, here we come!

I rail against writers who talk about the loneliness of it all -- what do they want, a crowd looking over their shoulders? Or those who talk about having to stare at a blank page, do they want someone to write on it?
